About this ship
Independence of the Seas is a Freedom-class cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International, built in 2008 at the Aker Finnyards Turku Shipyard in Finland. She was the third and final ship in the Freedom class, following Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas, and debuted as one of the largest passenger vessels in the world at the time. The ship underwent a major 'Royal Amplified' refurbishment in 2018 that added new dining venues, a redesigned kids' water park, and additional staterooms.
